Banal Landscape Repository

Banal Landscape Repository was an exploration of the 2012 London Olympics, post-Brexit. The supposedly liberal, idealistic celebration of post-globalized British identity repeated many of the same conservative stereotypes of national mythology. The celebrations began with a tribute to the British landscape that quickly industrialized, finally clearing way, metaphorically and literally, for contemporary British life. I approached this ceremony as a cultural landscape, which I could draw from and construct my own landscape paintings.
